Camping Road Trip – April 2018

This week hubby and I stayed in a cabin for 2 nights at Kooser State Park.  We were able to visit 10 new State Parks on this trip, so now we have been to 102 out of 121 Pennsylvania State Parks.  We always try to hike and explore interesting things at each park.  Plus we go to the park office for each park to get a stamp in our book. We had a wonderful time and it even rained all day on the second day of our trip.

Our first stop was Trough Creek State Park, even though we have been there twice before and even stayed in the lodge a few years ago.  We didn’t have the park stamp yet so we wanted to stop for that.  Plus we did some hiking since the weather was gorgeous and we needed to stretch our legs from the long car ride.

Balanced Rock

I was able to find some beautiful wildflowers I had never seen before.

We saw a lot of amazing views on our trip.  This is the view from the top of Blue Knob State Park, which also has a ski resort.  We even saw some snow.

We have stayed in several cabins over the years at different parks.  This was the first time we had a sink in the cabin.  I loved having a sink so we could cook and do dishes way easier.

During the middle of the first night we heard a critter squeak one time.  It was so cute and I thought it was a bat at first.  Then we decided it was a mouse when we found part of a banana and some of hubby’s coffee cake had been nibbled on.  I think he squeaked when he found the coffee cake.  And when I sat down to look at the visitor registry book I discovered that our friend’s name is Henry and everyone who wrote in the book mentioned him.  Some people even drew pictures of him.  I shared our little story as well.  Cute overload!

We had the nicest neighbors in the cabin next door.  They lent us a can opener and left us some firewood.  We didn’t have a fire though because one night it was raining and the other night we got back late and we were too tired.

The history of Pennsylvania and the State Parks is fascinating.

My favorite park on our trip was Ohiopyle State Park.  We had lunch at a place in town and saw a cute cat.  We love cats!  Then we walked around a little in the rain.  We saw a pretty waterfall.

Another beautiful view.

I love to go to native plant sales and pick up my favorite wildflowers for my garden.

This trip was so much fun and I can’t wait until our next camping road trip!  Yay !
