Garden Update – July 16, 2019

I wanted to do a little update on my garden.  I spent some time around the willow tree and remembered when my Aunt gave it to me as a cutting in 2010.  What once was a twig is now a magnificent sight.  I always loved how the branches hung down on weeping willows and thought, if I could have one I’d sit under it all the time.

I planted my favorite wildflower, Swamp Rose Mallow, by the willow tree a few years ago.  It finally has 3 stalks and buds are forming.

I’m looking forward to enjoying these roma tomatoes.  I’ll also have string beans soon.

I’ve been enjoying all the cucumbers and zucchini we’ve been harvesting.  I almost have too many, but I never grow tired of cucumber salad and sauteed zucchini.

Sunny still enjoys his daily belly rubs so much!  That is one soft tummy!!

There’s lots of sunshine in the flower garden thanks to these lovely dahlias.

This was fun to put together. 🙂 ❤

I’m going to be making fettuccine with creamy sage sauce soon with this sage.

I’ve been picking up mint at the farm stand and realized that I actually have 3 types of mint already.  Lemon balm, ginger mint, and catmint.  I’m using them all to flavor my iced black tea.

We had this mystery flower show up.  We don’t remember planting it and have no idea what it is.  I love that!

That’s all for now.  There is so much growing right now and I want to use more herbs in my cooking.  I’m using basil faster than it can grow, so I planted two more plants and seeds too.  In the fall, I plan to make pesto to freeze in ice cube trays.  I also like to sprinkle chives on almost any meal.  See you in the next post!

  1. Your garden is beautiful. Ours is looking a little beat up at the moment, getting too hot out there. We still have corn, mint, basil, grapes and some squash growing. Too hot for flowers though.

Nice, I love growing things to eat or use for tea and cooking. It’s getting really hot here too lately.
