Stick Caterpillar

DSC_0023 (2)

This is a stick caterpillar that’s been hanging out on the obedient plant for several days.  It’s one of the coolest insects I’ve seen in my garden yet!  I wonder if this is a host plant they commonly feed on?!

This is the kind of awesomeness we get to see since we don’t use pesticides.  I can’t wait to see what other surprises we will encounter this summer.  When the boneset, lobelia, ox-eye, and obedient plant bloom there will be a lot of butterfly photo ops. Yay!!!

I’m mostly writing about planting native plants, attracting/feeding wildlife & beneficial insects, and not using pesticides.  Whether you have a very small or large garden, every little bit helps I’m sure.  I’m sharing what I learn and discover along the way.  I’m not going into a lot of detail about everything, but occasionally I might.  Put your phone down and go see what you can find by looking at your plants up close. 🙂
