Garden Dill Pickles

I made these last year and I just wing it with the recipe.  There’s nothing better than a sammy, potato salad, and homemade pickles in the summer.  Especially to bring on a picnic and hike. I used 1 cup of water, 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1/2 cup local honey, 2 teaspoons of salt,…

Zoodle Salad

I picked a small zucchini from my garden and made zoodles with it for fun.  I wasn’t really sure what I was doing yet.  So then I cut up a tomato from the stand and it started to come together.  I mashed 1/2 an avocado, and added cumin, onion powder, salt, and cilantro.  If I…

Corn Maque Choux

Today I made Corn Maque Choux to have with dinner & a movie night.  The corn and tomatoes are from the local farm.  We’re going to watch Bruce Almighty.

Cucumber Salad

A few years ago, I created this dressing and love it so much that I also use it for coleslaw and bean salads.  I use chives instead of basil for coleslaw.  I peel my cucumbers and remove the seeds, but you don’t have to.  Whisk the ingredients for the dressing together then add your cucumber. …

Lavender Smoothie

Red Beet Eggs

I was reading about ways to protect pollinators earlier and I felt so proud of Steve and I because our lifestyle reflects many of the recommendations. Some are growing native plants, having bird houses, not using pesticides, buying local or organic produce, recycling, and connecting to nature through gardening and our adventures. We also care…

From my kitchen…

So I’m trying out this collage maker app and I like it. I made some delicious food today using ingredients from the farm and my garden. Cooking is definitely one of my most favorite hobbies. Check out the recipes I used in case you want to give them a try. I made the potato salad…

Farm stand goodies…

We had a wonderful selection this week at the farm stands. We are seeing more local homegrown vegetables & fruits. I picked up cantaloupe, tomatoes, sweet corn, red potatoes, eggs, and peaches. Everything smells amazing, just like it should smell. The red potatoes are the best I’ve ever tasted. I plan out our meals so…
