Lightning Bugs and Glow-worms

Hey there, Today I would like to share a story about lightning bugs. I feel so lucky that we get to enjoy them every summer. Especially when we see the trees sparkling bright at their peak, and I so wish I could capture it with my camera somehow. I step outside every night to see…

Rat Snake๐Ÿ

We are enjoying our weekly walks at our favorite places, and learning about new plants and wildlife. We saw a rat snake near the lake last week. The beautiful weather is wonderful, and I’m so glad summer is here.

Baby Ducks

We had lunch at the park where we saw baby ducks.

Toad Friend

I love the wildlife we see and consider them friends. I don’t see them as pests at all. Nature will create it’s own balance, which is why there’s no need for pesticides. Toads will eat insects, slugs, and snails. I swear this is the same toad we see every year. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’•

Indigo Bunting

An indigo bunting has been enjoying the feeder outside my kitchen window today. I’m so glad hubby figured out how to stop the squirrel from eating all of the birdseed. They are beautiful!

Baby Praying Mantis

I was working in the garden and admiring the clematis flowers when I noticed that there are dozens of baby praying mantis’ all over the flowers and leaves. Usually, I only see one or two, so this is exciting. I love watching them, and in the second picture, it looks like they are having a…

Baby Groundhogs

Every year during springtime, I look forward to seeing the baby groundhogs that live in our backyard. They have a burrow near our shed, and I love watching them. They are so cute, and they love when I give them treats like carrots and broccoli. They also eat dandelions which help to keep them from…

Carolina Wrens

Every year at spring time, I look forward to carolina wrens building a nest in our garden. They are enjoying their new watermelon house.๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ‰

Zebra Swallowtail

We saw a zebra swallowtail at Shenk’s Ferry Wildflower Preserve on Friday. I read that they love pawpaw trees. I loved walking along the creek. For some reason being near water is so relaxing and fun.

Green Heron

We went for a walk on earth day and saw a green heron for the first time. He didn’t seem to mind that we were standing close by watching him eat minnows. We’ve been seeing something new on almost every walk this spring so far. We have talked about that happening many times before, and…
