Amazing photos from Shenk’s Ferry.
We saw a zebra swallowtail at Shenk’s Ferry Wildflower Preserve on Friday. I read that they love pawpaw trees. I loved walking along the creek. For some reason being near water is so relaxing and fun.
Shenk’s Ferry preserve is one of the many natural areas used by Native American tribes to hunt, gather, and farm. More than 70 species of wildflowers can be found here due to the less acidic soil in this particular area. We always love our walks here. It’s so good for the soul.
We saw a lot of trillium on our walk today at Shenk’s Ferry Wildflower Preserve. The red four petal trillium is so cool.
Yesterday we adventured to Shenk’s Ferry for our third visit. I read that the Dutchmans Breeches were blooming now, so I wanted to see if we could find some at the preserve. Well there were hundreds of them covering the hillsides and they are one of the most beautiful native flowers.
